A common question we get asked is ‘When should I make entries into TTB Tamer?’ or ‘How often should I use TTB Tamer?’.
We recommend that entries are made into TTB Tamer right after (or very soon after) the activity takes place in the brewery. We don’t recommend waiting longer than 24 hours to make your entries after the activity takes place in the brewery.
This is for a couple reasons:
- The sooner you make the entries, the sooner you can move onto other things and you have less chance of forgetting to make the entries.
- Finding a few minutes of time to make entries at the end of the day is usually a lot easier than finding an hour or three to play ‘catch up’ with backed up entries at the end of the week or month.
- The TTB required Daily Records need to be kept daily. The TTB recommends that all records should be made no later than the end of the next business day. If it takes longer than a day to do this you aren’t keeping daily records.
- TTB Tamer was designed to eliminate the problem of needing to create reports at the last minute. To get the most out of TTB Tamer, enter your activities frequently so that at the end of the period all you need to do is click ‘print’ for the report.
There are very few circumstances where it may make more sense to wait longer than 24 hours before entering activities.
